Funny old season this one. I'd packed all my kit away a few weeks' ago, storage wax on the boards, all ready for summer. There's only Mount Hutt and Broken River still open here and it's been dumping at both of them the last couple of days! 45cm+ at BR and 25cm+ at Hutt. I know where I'm going tomorrow then, balls to work, balls to jetlag, I want pow-pow. Check this pic out from this morning.
Almost every ski field across the South Island has had powder in its last week of the season. What's that all about then?! Same thing happened last year down in Queenstown. Fingers crossed the snow doesn't blow away/get rained on overnight (and a bit of vis would be good too), report to follow in the evening.
