Seems like ages ago that I last spent a weekend in Christchurch - been a busy one. The start of the weekend was marked by heavy rain at exactly 6pm on Friday - great the way the weather does that here! This is supposed to be mid summer and I'd say we've had about 4 days when it's been over 30c. More unpredictable than the UK!
Started off at our local Thai restaurant - local meaning it takes under a minute to walk there. Into the city next to try and catch some of the comedy acts at the World Buskers Festival that's been on here for the last 10 days or so. Gutted - already full at the one we wanted to go to (as it was raining so much everyone had headed inside I suppose). Went off in search of another one and got straight in to "Hot Pink Bits" at the Reparatory Theatre. Well, this wasn't up to much at all - stuck it out for most of the show then gave up and went to the Belgian Beer Cafe. Ages since I'd had Chimay, Leffe etc.
Remembered why I hadn't had them for a while as I woke up with a *** between the eyes on Saturday morning. Nothing a few eggs and coffee couldn't sort out though. Time for a bit of ring shopping - where do we begin then?! We went in our local jewellers with no clue about anything, 1.5 hours later we've got it fairly sorted and are going back in to look at a few options on Monday. No more details for now - will post pictures when it's all done and Sarah-Jaye's happy with it. Exciting stuff all this.
Sloth in need of new t-shirts, and definitely something brighter. So he comes back with 3 brown ones. Nice one. Out with the green, in with the donkey brown. Stopped in Cathedral Square on the way back through to watch the "Blackstreet Boys" as part of the festival. Absolute genius - y'all would've loved these 2. Loads of taking the piss out of themselves, body popping and getting the crowd involved. Quality bit when they picked a guy out of the crowd who could dance as well as they could! Maybe you just had to be there.
Continuing the diamond theme we went to see Blood Diamond at the cinema. Great film - about time there was something fairly original coming out. Not sure how we felt about buying diamonds now tho! Back into the city to catch the last fire show by Les Valkyries. Not bad, but too much waiting around while they talked about what they were gonna do. Just get on with it.
As for Sunday, we thought we'd better make use of the tennis court downstairs so bought tennis rackets, balls and shoes and got on it. Years since either of us had played and doubtless this was pretty obvious to anyone watching! Still, loved it all the same and will be plenty more of that. Oh yeh, and had a round of mini-golf in the morning - a Western-themed one this time - Mr Witt would've loved one of the holes "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" - even had the music playing.
Bit of a Slothanory that one, not sure whether anyone's still awake? Now under 6 weeks till I'm in the UK!!!
Time for some Flickring...
