Dan Black's Theories

Black goes Farming in Val Thorens

Well yes, here it is upon us again - time for farming.  Keeping it real with the Gnarlyboarders tradition of "getting an early one in" Dan Black and Cath Black have decided to send the scouts down to the French Alps to assess this season's potential.

With the trip booked for the week before Christmas and on the back of a disastrous season for European snow last year this was a gamble.  But never shy of a challenge (see Dan Black's Challenge for proof) Dan Black was up for taking his ironing board with him to ride the dirt slopes if needs be.  So how happy was I to check the forecast with reports of "one of the best starts to a season in Europe for decades" and "These last days it has snowed a lot in Val Thorens" with a little bit of "French resorts expect a metre of snow in the nex few days" - ohh happy days.

The only remaining concern is whether my trusty steed will be back from the blacksmiths in time having sustained numerous war wounds after following Jarmarl down a gully in Lesley last March.

Ok that's all from me, I'm off to farm out some terminal ferocity...with a bit of Show Offs thrown in for good measure. Standby for a slopeside update.

Loving your early season work Browneye, your mission if you're willing to accept it is to attempt one of these little beauties. If only he'd done this last year we could have accidentally given this a go off that booter in Lesley!

1080 it is then..apparently it's simple really, look over your shoulder and the rest follows!

Just checked the weather and Monsieur Dumpy must be eating loads cos he just wont stop shitting: only 61cm of fresh snow between now and Tuesday night, better get the extension pipe on my snorkel!

Mr Black you are truly worthy of your GnarlyBoarders Officer status. Keeping the early season flag flying higher than Mr Rice! You never know, there could well be a full return to Tignes in a December some time over the next couple of years.

Awesome news that Mr Dumpy's got his appetite back - lets just hope he keeps eating enough for NZ next season.

p.s. I think that to ensure you nail the second part of that 1080 you have to have eaten a Triple Mountain Burger for the previous 3 meals.

That's great news Mr Dumpy has come in early this season. I bet the Marmottes don't know what's going on! Wonder if Alishair still spends his new year out there.

Black can you email me your postal address merci beaucoup.
